Welcome to the unofficial (but pretty much official) Portland International Raceway Bracket Racing site!

The focus of this site will remain as it has been for the past fourteen years – as a source to keep you updated on the Bracket Racing program at PIR. I'll leave the street legal races, import races, etc. up to someone else.  While this remains a volunteer deal, as with all previous seasons, I’ll do my best to post the race results and current point standings within 24 hours of receiving them.  I will also continue to submit the weekly race results to National Dragster.

If you have any information, news, comments or concerns regarding Bracket Racing at Portland International Raceway that you would like to have posted here, just send an e-mail to:

Greg Rollin

DECEMBER 30, 2014

The first representative meeting will be taking place this Saturday morning.  If you have any thoughts or ideas that you would like shared at this meeting and have not already passed them along to your class representative, please do so before this Saturday.  Your reps are: Super/Pro: Greg Rollin, Pro: John Masterman, Sportsman: Ken Green and Motorcycle: Mark Canty.  I don’t have a contact email for Mark, so feel free to send them to me.  If anybody would prefer their input be kept anonymous, be sure to state so in your email – you can be assured your request will be honored.

DECEMBER 29, 2014

I received a very saddening and heartbreaking email from Jake Vandehey (son of Jay, great nephew of Don) last Friday night.  Jake wrote:

“We had a real tragedy today, my uncle Don's garage/shop went up in flames due to a welding accident, and his '64 Plymouth Fury, all of his motorcycles, including drag bikes and a new pit scooter he built, as well as my Dad's motorcycle engine were all completely melted and destroyed. There was also a lot of explosions from stored up race fuel and such. Luckily though Don is ok, but he got some 2nd and 3rd degree burns on his head from the accident, and was treated at the burn ward at Emmanuel in Portland for that and smoke inhalation, but he's fine and doing well now, just upset from the loss.”

For the Oregonian article (and more pictures), click HERE.

Losing your race vehicle and all your support equipment is very likely every racer’s biggest fear. I feel just awful about this tragedy – my heart truly goes out to Don and Jay.  I’ll post any updates, fundraisers, etc. as they come in.

Banquet pics coming soon….

OCTOBER 17, 2014

I have some sad news to report.  Steve Smith passed away this last Tuesday of a heart attack.  Many of you will recognize Steve as one of the Booster Club volunteers.  Some of the long time racers will remember Steve’s cool lime green Coronet with the very low to the ground stance that he ran in Pro.

PHOTO: Johnny B

There will be a service held for Steve at Mountain View Memorial Garden Cemetery (499 Watercrest Dr. Forest Grove, OR  97116) on October 21 at 1:00 pm.

OCTOBER 2, 2014

The 2014 Mel Bresaw Memorial King of the Track Series final came down to Steve Laskowske vs Jimmy Heriford.

With the Wally going to Steve Laskowske.  Congrats Steve on another KOTT victory!

OCTOBER 1, 2014

Thank you Carol Brown for this nice remembrance poster.

SEPTEMBER 30, 2014

The final race of the 2014 Mel Bresaw Memorial King of the Track series takes place tomorrow night.  This is The Big One with the highest payout for a bracket race ever held at PIR!  The winner will receive not only a minimum of $2,100, but also an NHRA “Wally”!   Guaranteed to be an exciting event, I highly encourage everybody to show up!

Depending on turnout, the regular four classes will be run or they will be combined as a cash bash. Letties Loveable Losers will also be available to all first round runner ups (sponsored by Tabor’s Automotive).  While there will be (1/4 mile) Street Legal events held on the 8th, 15th, 22nd and 29th of this month, this will be the last bracket race of 2014.

SEPTEMBER 29, 2014

(I’m bummed I won’t be able to attend this)

Service for Bob Comeau:

There will be a full mass on October 6th at 11AM (Rosary at 10:30am) at St. Johns Church (8701 NE 119th St, Vancouver, WA 98662).

There will be a Celebration of Life at the Comeau shop (5112 NE 119th St Vancouver WA 98686 360-573-2216 the big red metal building) on October 5th at 10:30AM. Waffle and Sausage brunch to be served, bring your stories and memorabilia, racing attire encouraged. And of course there will be some donuts and coffee.

If you have any pictures you would like to share, to be included in the slideshow, please email to bobcomeaumemorial@gmail.com

SEPTEMBER 25, 2014

As I’m sure most of you have heard, Bob Comeau lost his battle with cancer yesterday.  I don’t do well at writing these things so I hope everyone will please understand if I don’t.  I’ll post any info regarding a service just as soon as I hear anything.

SEPTEMBER 23, 2014

Hopefully Mother Nature will be cooperative tomorrow night for the final qualifying race of the 2014 Mel Bresaw Memorial King of the Track Series.  All bonus payout sponsors (Schroeder and Sons Electric, the NWDRA and Tabor’s Automotive) will carry over from last week.  In the event of another rain out (we can’t race in the rain on “slicks”), the next race will the (guaranteed to be exciting) final on Oct. 1.

SEPTEMBER 18, 2014

Even though we got rained out last night, that doesn’t mean we didn’t have a fun time.  It was Bill and Joetta Heard’s 50th anniversary!  Congrats to you both!  I’m just sorry I didn’t have my real camera with me.

SEPTEMBER 17, 2014

The votes have been cast and the results are in.  Greg Rollin is the Super/Pro representative, John Masterman the Pro representative, Ken Green the Sportsman rep and Mark Canty the Motorcycle rep. If you have any thoughts, ideas or suggestions on how to improve the bracket racing experience at PIR, please bring them to your respective class representative.  Your input will then be shared and discussed at several meetings with Pete this winter.  I haven’t talked with Mark yet, but John, Ken and myself would prefer your input be in the form of e-mail.  I’ll post Mark’s contact info as soon as I have a chance to chat with him.

SEPTEMBER 15, 2014

The fourth points/qualifying race of the 2014 Mel Bresaw Memorial King of the Track series will be sponsored by Schroeder Electric (winners), the NWDRA (runner ups) and Tabor’s Automotive for Lettie’s Loveable Losers bracket.  Track management would like to remind all competitors that “excessive braking” is grounds for disqualification.

This week’s bonus payout sponsors are Odyssey Batteries for the winners, NWDRA for the runner ups and Tabor’s Automotive for the Second Chance bracket.  Thank you all for your support!

And speaking of sponsors, the pot just keeps getting richer for the 2014 Mel Bresaw Memorial King of The Track series!  In addition to the bonus payout that Jeff Cross and Nick Bresaw have already generously put up, Gary Coe and City Sprint Delivery Service have joined in bringing the total to $2100!  Tomorrow night is race #3 of the 5 race series – it’s not too late to come out and try to qualify for the highest payout that I can recall for a PIR Wednesday night bracket race!

Team members – be sure to talk with Lettie this Wednesday night.

Oh, and just because I can’t come up with a clever way to work the words “Time Slip” into a sentence here, doesn’t mean you’re off the hook when the booster club comes around tomorrow night.  Make ‘em laugh – you might even get an extra ticket!

Bracket Finals wrap-up by John Masterman:

After another long, fun weekend of the bracket finals, here's your rundown from one of your Team Portland racers: The weather was mostly nice, the racing was good, and the event finished on time!
Thursday's test n tune session was uneventful for team Portland. Those that made time runs did so without any known issues, and gained some information for the rest of the weekend.
Friday's activities began with the gambler's race first thing. Getting to the later rounds took some time, as a couple of engines expired all OVER the track (not OUR engines, but some poor unlucky souls had their primary cars give up the ghost). That actually played right into Portland's hands. The sun got lower in the sky, the shadows got longer. The lights came on. The last few rounds were run under the lights, just the way we like it! The Sportsman final round came down to two PIR racers. It looked just like any Wednesday race, with Gordon Cady, jr vs. John Nelson. Gordon got the better of John, but both brought home some significant $$ and some bragging rights for the weekday evening folks.
Saturday was the not-so-mostly-nice weather. It was damp when folks woke up or arrived. Just about the time the track was dry, the rain began falling. The morning was spent enjoying another aspect of the finals: socializing and bench-racing. When racing finally got underway, it was straight into eliminations for the Race of Champions. No time run, just dive in! Some did better than others. A few made it several rounds (not me) into the Pomona-bound-winner categories, but the real fun was high school and junior dragster: After earning a position on the team on the very last day of points, Cameron Loos came home with the high school bracket Wally!  In junior lightning, Adam Lint was top dog, also bringing home a coveted Wally. Pretty darn cool.
Sunday morning was comfortable and humid. Many of us had no information in such conditions, so the first round dial-in was a (sometimes slightly educated) guess. I won a round at the finals for the first time over the last two seasons! The brakes work well, btw ;)  Team PIR was neck and neck for the lead throughout much of the event, bouncing back and forth with team Pacific for the lead. Our Pro bracket racers made up for a very disappointing event at last year's finals this year :D After three rounds, there were 23 cars left in Pro ET. Five of them belonged to Portland! I fizzled out in round four, but enjoyed getting that far. In round three, I looked over from the water box to see who I was racing. Oh, look. It's Nick Shepherd, the newly crowned division six Pro champion from the day before. My light was green, and off I went! He wasn't catching me, so I dumped, and this funny yellow light on the wall came on! I dumped on Nick Shepherd and won! (for those unfamiliar, Nick is a simply amazing racer. He also may have never crossed the finish line at full throttle. He packs a few, to say the least). To say I was a little bit happy to take down the division champ is a HUGE understatement!!! For the record, I talked to him afterward: He got thrown off because my car is so slow ;)
David Chun made it all the way to the final in Pro bracket in his sandbagger special dragster. He had fun, but came up one round short of the big prize. In Super Pro, Steve Laskowske was the last racer standing!!!!! He brought his deadly Super Gas Nova, that many team members had never even seen prior to this event. I vote for putting mufflers on this car so he can race it at PIR next year! It certainly did well ;)
There were many other racers that went many rounds, but I forget exactly who went how far and don't want to leave anyone out. Team PIR finished third overall on Sunday, only four points behind team Woodburn, which came from behind to take the title (again. Sigh.)   The food was good, the camaraderie was good, and Mike Pliska didn't leave a single drop of fluid on the track. In a stunning upset, Mr. Pliska didn't win best-appearing car. The voting must have been rigged ;)
Boise next year! Save up a few extra bucks for gas, and lets go after this again!

I know I’ve said this is strictly a brackets site, but since this event is being put on by David Chun, Jr. I thought I could make an exception to my rule.

In the past I’ve kept any kind of a Team Race report to a minimum (and I’m sticking with tradition again this year!), because by the time I get the chance to post anything (hate it when that work thing gets in the way), I’m sure most everybody already knows how we did.  What might get missed in the Facebook posts, texts and such however, is a big thank you to all the behind the scenes people who help make this such a fun event for all the participants.  For the Friday night dinner, a big thanks goes out to the Tabor and Chun families and to Tony Schroeder for the Saturday night taco feed.  For keeping things running smoothly, it couldn’t have been done without the help of the Dietrich family, Josh and Michelle Fuerstenberg, Brenden Staley, Jeff Hall, Jack Russell and of course our team captain Lettie Hilles – thank you all for your help!  Speaking of volunteers who help make this a great event, below are some shots from Carol Brown.

Race of Champions Jr. Lightning winner Adam Lint.

Race of Champions High School winner Cameron Loos.

Sunday Team Race Super/Pro winner Steve Laskowske.

Team winner circle shot.

Best Appearing Sportsman Car: Dawn Dietrich

Check Carol’s website for more event pictures (give her a week or so to get everything processed and posted as I’m sure she has a ton to work on!).

To squelch any rumors, the 2015 Team Race will held at “Firebird Raceway” in Boise – not Mission as had been rumored.

Tonight is the second night of the Mel Bresaw Memorial King of the Track Series.  Tonight’s sponsors are S&J Automotive (Scott and Frank Pettit) for a bonus payout to the winners, the NWDRA to the runner ups and Tabor’s Automotive to the Second Chance (Letties Losers) bracket.

First things first before we get to the race report.  For those not at the race, you may not know that due to a 99% and a 70% blocked artery, our fearless leader Pete ended up spending several days at St. Vincent Hospital instead of at the track.  The good news is with some new hardware, he is now at home and expected to make a full recovery!  We hope you can get back to work soon Pete!

A very nice and thoughtful gesture by the Fuerstenbergs were these stickers honoring Bob – who for the first time in years (if ever), missed the race.  If you would like to visit Bob, he is at a home care facility located at 12809 SE Angus Street in Vancouver 98683-3813. 360-885-1081.  We definitely missed you Bob – you are in all of our hearts and minds.

Pictures and race report coming soon….

AUGUST 27, 2014

Woodburn has posted the parking/pit map.  While our location is perhaps better than we were anticipating, I see they are punishing us by putting us directly across from the Jr. Dragsters!  No offence intended toward the Jr. racers, but I’m sure even some of them will admit those things can sometimes be (obnoxiously) loud!

AUGUST 26, 2014

As of 2:00 this afternoon, still no pit/parking maps to be found.  If anybody needs anything posted here, I’ll be able to do so until around 1:00 Wednesday afternoon.  Some phone numbers should you need them: Lettie 503-644-5707, Pete (cell) 503-740-6357.  Lastly for now, large ice chest are needed.  Please bring to the team gathering area.

AUGUST 25, 2014

In an effort to reduce some of the congestion in the tower on Wednesday nights as well as give the racers a chance to voice their thoughts, we are going to put together a committee to meet with Pete two or three times before next season where thoughts, ideas and concerns will be shared and discussed.  A representative will be elected by their fellow racers in each of the four categories (S/P, Pro Sportsman and Motorcycle) who will take their constituents thoughts to these meetings.  These representative positions will be voted on by ballot at the team race (as well as the option for each person to opt out of the nomination should they so choose).

AUGUST 21, 2014

A really cool addition has been made to the Mel Bresaw Memorial King of the Track Series!  Mel’s son Nick, who used to live and race here, heard about Jeff’s generous sponsorship, and decided to match Jeff’s $800 prize to the winner!  Is that cool or what!  From Nick: “I enjoy being a part of this to help keep my fathers memory alive. Even though I do not live in Oregon any longer many of your local Wednesday night racers are like family to me.”  If you missed the first of the five qualifying races last night, it’s not at all too late to enter the series (there is no fee to do so if you are already signed up for PIR points).  Think about it – a Wally and $1600 bucks to win!  Why would you not come out and play!  Round two happens on Sept. 3. Be there!

AUGUST 19, 2014

Although the regular (points) season is now over, that doesn’t mean racing is over - the King of the Track mini points series begins this Wednesday!  The format for the KOTT will be the same as previous years – after five races, the top six points earners in each category will all run off until there is one car (or motorcycle) left – the King of the Track.  For 2014 there is an added bonus.  Not only will the winner receive an NHRA Wally, they will also receive an $800 bonus payout!  This generous sponsorship comes from Jeff Cross who is dedicating the series to his friend and long time racer Mel Bresaw.  A racing accident took Mel’s life in 1999.  In honor of Mel, the KOTT will be titled “The Mel Bresaw Memorial King of the Track Series”.

The NWDRA will be posting a $25 bonus to the winners in all categories this week, Tabor’s Automotive will again sponsor Lettie’s Loveable Losers and Columbia Pest Control will be posting a $100 bonus to the motorcycle winner!

If you are a Team Portland racer, don’t forget there is a mandatory “team meeting” this Wednesday night at 7:00 at the base of the tower.

AUGUST 17, 2014

Final 2014 points are posted.  Congratulations to all the track champions, to those who made the top four, to those who made the top six (ROC) and to all those who made it onto Team Portland!

AUGUST 15, 2014

2014 NHRA Division 6 ET Bracket Finals competitor information HERE.

Please remember to be eligible to participate, all drivers are required to have a current NHRA membership and license/competition number prior to the event.  Check your expiration dates and if you are not currently a member and do not have a current NHRA license/competition number, contact the NHRA asap!

AUGUST 11, 2014

Not only is this Wednesday the final points night of the year, it’s also the last of the Big Buck Wednesday races for 2014.  It sure would be nice to see S&T Trucking, Hazel Dell Muffler and Dietrich Trucking back next year.  Even if you weren’t one of the lucky recipients of this generous program, please be sure to thank Shane, Len and Richard for what they did for Portland racers this season.   A big thanks also goes out the NWDRA for posting a cash bonus to the runner ups this season and to Tabor’s Automotive for the bonus payout in the Second Chance/Lettie’s Loveable Losers bracket!

Along the lines of sponsors, Lettie is still looking for weekly ($100) sponsors for the upcoming King of The Track series.

If you are racing for Team Portland, don’t forget there is a mandatory team meeting on the 20th (rain or shine), the meeting will take place at PIR at approx. 7:00 pm.  Sign up sheets for team race volunteers (dinner, etc.) are in the tower.

As is always the case, this last night of points offers up all kinds of different possible scenarios and outcomes in each category.  Not only can there be some shuffling in the top four spots, but also for the all important top six “Race of Champions” spots as well as for that last spot on the team – or getting bumped out of any of those spots!  It will be a fun and exciting night!

AUGUST 4, 2014

Big Bucks Wednesdays return this week thanks to S&T Truck Repair, Hazel Dell Muffler and Dietrich Trucking!  As always, the NWDRA will be paying a bonus to the runner up in S/P, Pro, Sportsman and Motorcycle.  Tabor’s Automotive will be paying a bonus in Second Chance (“Letties Loveable Losers”).

Be sure to let the powers that be know your intentions for the Team Race as soon as possible.  You can also come up to the tower anytime before, during or after “eliminations” to sign up for the Friday night dinner as well as for general help needed during the Team Race.

AUGUST 1, 2014

Flashback Friday!  From 1978:

JULY 28, 2014

Because of the rain out last week, all of the sponsors and bonus payouts will be carried over to this week.  Just because I can’t come up with a clever way to incorporate the words “break out” into this paragraph, doesn’t give you an excuse for not doing so when the Booster Club 50/50 people come around tomorrow night!  Make ‘em laugh – you might even get an extra ticket or two!

JULY 21, 2014

This week’s winners in S/P, Pro, Sportsman and Motorcycle will receive a bonus payout thanks to Steve’s Precision Machine – the Motorcycle winner will receive yet an additional bonus payout thanks to Columbia Pest Control!  Runner ups will receive bonus payouts from the NWDRA and thanks to Tabor’s Automotive, there will be a bonus payout in the Second Chance (aka Letties Loveable Losers) bracket!

Just a reminder, please print your “dial in” clearly and legibly so it can be easily read by the tower. Also don’t forget it is the drivers responsibility to check the reader board before staging.

There will be a Team meeting held this Wednesday – time TBA.

JULY 14, 2014

Damn I hate it when I catch my spelling errors a week after I’ve posted something….  Anyway, this Wednesday night will be the last of the Big Buck Wednesday nights for the month of July.  Many thanks as always to S&T Truck Repair, Hazel Dell Muffler and Dietrich Trucking for the bonus payouts to the winners in S/P ($250), Pro ($150), Sportsman ($100) and Motorcycle ($50)!   If you make it to the final but lose with a “red light” (or whatever), thanks to both Cruisin The Gut and the NWDRA, each will award the runner ups with an additional $25.00 for a $50 bonus in the above categories!   Lettie’s Loveable Losers (Second Chance Bracket) is once again sponsored by Tabor’s Automotive.  Speaking of which, there are still spots open for the Racers Row at the Cruisin The Gut – see any one of the Tabor family for more details.

Weekly ($100) sponsors are needed for August and September.  If you, your company, your employer, etc. would like to step up, please see Lettie.

Please note the racer entry fees have changed for the “National Dragster Challenge” this week – see the flier below for details.

JUNE 24, 2014

JUNE 23, 2014 (Updated 6-25)

We would like to thank this week’s sponsors Electro Pac (Mike Francis) and Cruisin The Gut for both posting an additional $25 bonus to the winners in S/P, Pro, Sportsman and Motorcycle!  Columbia Pest Control has stepped up again, and will be awarding a $100 bonus to the winner in Motorcycle!   As always, thanks to the NWDRA for the bonus to the runner ups in those categories and to Tabor Automotive for sponsoring the Second Chance/Cash Bash bracket (aka Lettie’s Loveable Losers).  Also thanks to B&J Excavating (S/P) and to Columbia Pest Control (Motorcycle) for their bonus payouts last week!

Phil Medina of Crusin The Gut is looking for race cars to add to Racers Row at their upcoming event. If you would like to display your car, please check with folks in the tower for more info.

JUNE 9, 2014 (Updated)

This week is another Big Bucks Wednesday night sponsored by S&T Truck Repair, Hazel Dell Muffler and Dietrich Trucking.  For the next two Big Bucks Wednesdays, B&J Excavating (Bill and Joetta Heard) will be rewarding the runner up in Super Pro with a $100 bonus. This is in addition to the $25 R/U bonus provided by the NWDRA!

For those who weren’t aware, Mark Wigginton will be retiring this year.  So if you’ve always wanted to manage a race track, here is the opportunity!  Details HERE.

There are still seats available for the Spirit Mountain Team Fundraiser.

For more info about the trip, contact Michelle or Josh at the numbers listed, or ask Lettie about the “PIR Spirit Mountain Bus Trip” when she comes around with 50-50 tickets.

MAY 27, 2014

Due to last weeks rain out, the bonus from MURCAD will carry over to this week.  We also have a new sponsor joining us this week.  Columbia Pest Control will be paying a bonus to the Motorcycle winner! This week begins the Beaches Cruise-In.  On a personal note, I think it would be great if just $1 from each of the cruise-ins “Entry Fee” went toward our payout and/or to the Booster Club.

MAY 27, 2014

This week’s sponsor is MURCAD Racing (Gordon Cady, Jr. and wife Susan Murphy) and as usual, the NWDRA will be paying an additional bonus to the second place finishers in S/P, Pro, Sportsman and Motorcycle!  If you have any interest in being a weekly sponsor, please see Lettie or the “Track Manager”.

MAY 20, 2014

Thanks to S&T Truck Repair, Hazel Dell Muffler and Dietrich Trucking, tomorrow night is another Big Bucks Wednesday!   $250 bonus payout in S/P, $150 in Pro, $100 in Sportsman and $50 in Motorcycle – remember, this is in addition to the regular payout!  Help spread the word – feel free to post this flier on your Facebook, etc. page.  Speaking of the word and bonuses, you’ll want to work the word “throttle” into the conversation when the 50-50 crew comes around tomorrow night.  Just to follow up on the post below, in order to be eligible for the NHRA Be a Member, Be a Winner contest, all of your NHRA info must be filled out on your tech card.  So please take the few minutes it takes to completely fill out your card.

MAY 12, 2014

A friendly reminder to everybody to completely fill out your tech cards!  I need your vehicle information when I submit our results to National Dragster.  And Pete needs all your NHRA member info when he submits the info to the NHRA for the Be a Winner, Be a Member contest.    As I’ve threatened before, I just might start making up vehicle info if you don’t include it on your card!  Do you really want your car listed as a 55 Hudson Hornet in the National Dragster?  Your motorcycle as a Vespa?  I thought not.  Please make sure your card is completely filled out when you hand it to Mike at “Tech Inspection”.

Thanks to the support of S&T Truck Repair, Hazel Dell Muffler and Dietrich Trucking, this Wednesday is another Big Bucks Wednesday payout night!

MAY 9, 2014

APRIL 28, 2014

The Booster Club would like to remind everybody that the Big Bucks Wednesday “Bonus Payout” from April 16 will be carried over for this week’s race.

APRIL 22, 2014

I normally don’t post personal stuff here, but I thought I’d make an exception on this particular day.

It was 40 years ago today that I bought my 67 Olds!

Yes, this is the same car that I race in Super Pro.  But in 1974 it was

all stock and and as you can see, yellow and had been hit hard in the rear.

I paid $260 for it.

APRIL 21, 2014

Remember to bring your red points card with you when going through tech.

The booster club would like to remind everyone this week to be sure to check their “Tire Pressure”.

APRIL 15, 2014

Weather permitting, the S&T Truck Repair, Hazel Dell Muffler and Dietrich Trucking

Big Bucks Wednesday race series returns tomorrow night!  Remember, in the event of a

rain out, the additional payout will carry over to next week.  When Lettie and the booster

club people come around tomorrow night, be sure to tell them about your “plug wires”.

Speaking of Lettie, she still has an opening for a nightly event sponsorship ($100.00).

And along the lines of sponsorship, a big thanks goes to the NWDRA for the additional

payout for runner up in all categories!

APRIL 8, 2014

It’s looking like Mother Nature is going to cooperate this Wednesday.  Which

means not only will it be the first points race of 2014, but also the first night

of the Big Bucks Wednesdays series!

As noted on the flier below, in the event that Mother Nature changes her mind and

the race is rained out, the Big Bucks payout will carry over to the next race.

The Secret Word also returns this week.  For bonus ticket(s), work the words

“oil pressure” into a sentence when the booster club 50/50 raffle volunteers come around.

Along the lines of the booster club and its volunteers, assistance is desperately needed

this year.  If you – or if you know someone who can assist with the weekly ticket sales,

please see Lettie.  And speaking of the booster club, weekly sponsors are still

needed.  Remember, the proceeds from the 50/50 raffle and the weekly sponsorship

are what allows the booster club to help with our entry fees for the Team Race as well

as the end of the year banquet.  For sponsorship information, please see Lettie or

call her at 503-644-5707.

MARCH 10, 2014

At this point, the weather forecasters are calling for sunshine for the rescheduled, rescheduled

2013 State Championship race!  Let’s hope it finally happens this time!

JANUARY 7, 2014

Many of you may remember Bev Jarvis and her husband Joe who raced a Ford Fairmont

in S/P in the 1990’s and early 2000’s.  While I don’t have any specific details, it is with sadness that

report that Bev recently passed away.

Thanks to Carol Brown for the memorial poster.

JANUARY 2, 2014

Happy New Year to everybody and welcome back to the PIR Bracket site for round 14!

Okay, two of my goals for this site for 2013 (to update the photo and crew pages) didn’t

happen, but perhaps with your help, at least the picture pages can be updated this season.

But this will require your help!  As always, as long as you are signed up for points,

please feel free to submit a picture and I’ll post it.   Carol Brown has always been

gracious in allowing the use of her pictures here – if you don’t see one on her site, check

with her as she very likely has one you can submit.  With any submission, please let me

know who the photographer was so I can give them credit.

Email them to the address at the top of this page.

Please note I cannot post copyrighted pictures.

Another area of the site in desperate need of an update is the Crew section.

As soon as our fearless leader gets me names and pictures of the 2014 crew,

I’ll post them.
