Welcome to the unofficial (but pretty much official) Portland International Raceway Bracket Racing site! The focus of this site will remain as it has been for the past eleven years – as a source to keep you updated on the Bracket Racing program at PIR. I'll leave the street legal races, import races, etc. up to someone else.  While this remains a volunteer deal, as with all previous seasons I’ll do my best to keep the race results and current point standings posted within 24 hours of receiving them.  I will also continue to submit the weekly race results to National Dragster.

If you have any information, news, comments or concerns regarding Bracket Racing at Portland International Raceway that you would like to have posted here, just send an e-mail to:

Greg Rollin

Banquet Update.  In addition to the activities listed below, there will also be a (surprise) birthday cake to help celebrate Lettie’s birthday!  I’m not going to speculate on age, but from what I understand there will also be a “55” jar if anybody wishes to make a gift contribution.  Jack is organizing this, but keep in mind Lettie does not know it’s happening.

While there will be a 50/50 raffle, there is no secret word this time.

The Banquet will have Door Prizes, Jingle Cash, and other things that Santa will bring.

Check back soon for the banquet’s Secret Word.

Team Meeting Notice

There will be a team race meeting next Wednesday night (August 24) at 7:00 at PIR (rain or shine).

It is imperative that you let Lettie (503-644-5707) or Pete (503-626-0579) know whether you are or are not going to the team race as soon as possible!

I’ll post more team race information here as soon as I receive.

AUGUST 4, 2011

Beginning tomorrow, our weekly race results should once again appear in the sports section of the Oregonian!   At this point I’m not sure if they will always be in the Friday edition, but I will submit them each Thursday morning just after I post them here – after that, it’s up to them.   Along these lines, don’t forget to fill in all vehicle information on your tech card as I would like to include that information when I submit our results to National Dragster.

JULY 26, 2011

Team race notice – if you are planning on going to Boise for the Division 6 Bracket Finals, be sure to go to the tower to let Lettie know.  Lettie has also has hotel information (and a great rate this year!).

50-50 Bonus!

From the Booster Club:

50-50 for Wednesday, July 27th.

When purchasing your 50-50 tickets this Wednesday, work the word “Supercars” into the conversation.

Something like “Supercars is a great website” or “Supercars seems to have the latest updates”, Or anything else you can think of.

Make it part of the conversation, not just say the word.

JULY 19, 2011

Due to the rain-out last week, the two events listed below are rescheduled for

this Wednesday night (July 20th).

Let’s hope the weather gods are more cooperative tomorrow night!

JULY 7, 2011

JULY 1, 2011

Notice to winners and runner ups.  When you go to the tower to collect your winnings, see Lettie and have her add your car/bike year and model to the results list.  This way when I submit the weekly results to National Dragster, I will be able to include your vehicle info along with the other stats.

P.S. It would also be helpful to be sure to fill out the vehicle info on your tech card.

JUNE 28, 2011

(Note: the SBC is a points race series in itself – points earned do not go

toward Wednesday night bracket points).

JUNE 24, 2011

Important 2011 schedule revision.  The National Dragster Challenge that was originally scheduled for July 4th has been rescheduled to Wednesday, August 24th.   This bumps the originally scheduled first race of the King of the Track series to the following week (August 31st).

I have updated the schedule page accordingly as well as revised the (pdf) printable schedule.

MAY 31, 2011

Due to all the rainouts so far this season, the raffle drawing for Scotty Richardson’s Drag Racing School has been changed to Wednesday, June 8th. This gives you (hopefully) two more opportunities to win this really cool prize.  See Ken Green or Lettie for your tickets to win!

=>$5.00 per ticket<=

Two days at Scotty Richardson’s Drag Racing School

Woodburn - July 21 & 22, 2011 (Thursday & Friday)

MARCH 15, 2011

According to the weatherguessers forecast at this point, it looks like the 2011 PIR bracket racing season will get underway this Sunday!

New raffle and booster club info from Ken Green:

==>   Only $5.00 per ticket  <==

Choose One or BOTH!!

Both of the above raffles are in addition to the regular season long 50-50 raffle.

The race school drawing will be held sometime in June.  (Editor’s note: this generous

prize was donated by Ken Green who won the race at the school last year – so 100% of

the proceeds will go to the booster club).

The 2012 event ticket draw will be the last weekend of August – during the National Open.

JANUARY 19, 2011

Sportsman class ET change.  Beginning with the 2011 season, the Sportsman bracket break will be run on the Division/National standard of 12.00 and slower (7.50 and slower 1/8th).  Please note all existing Sportsman class rules apply (no transbrakes, etc.).  If you have any questions concerning the change, please contact Pete or the NHRA division office.

As of 2011, the Sport Compact category has been discontinued.

JANUARY 12, 2011

JANUARY 4, 2011

Happy New Year to everybody and welcome back to the PIR Bracket site for round 11!

It sure was fun to return to the drivers seat last year and I’m looking forward to doing the same this season!  The downside to this is of course it limits my ability to take pictures for the photos section.

But as always, as long as you are signed up for points, please feel free to submit a current picture

and I’ll post it.   Carol Brown has always been gracious in allowing the use of her pictures here – check with her as she very likely has one you can submit.  With any submission, please let me know who the photographer was so I can give them credit.  Please note I cannot post copyrighted pictures.

The (tentative) 2011 bracket race schedule has been posted – check back soon for Jr. Dragster dates.

I will also post any updates / changes for the 2011 season here as soon as I receive them.
